What I love about camp!

Every year BigStuf camp blows me away and hopefully blows the minds of the students and adults that attend. If you attend a camp – whether you’re a student, adult, volunteer, or staff – hopefully you’ll come away saying that. Even if you attend a camp other than BigStuf :)

This year I didn’t get to attend all of the 11 camps that we did. I did attend our final camp in Daytona. It was incredible. We stacked the deck with Andy Stanley, Francis Chan, Jared Herd, and the Fee Band (Steve Fee). The talks were absolutely amazing and FEE just knows how to lead people in worship.

What I love about camp – as a staff member, producer, technical guy. I’ve always got the best seat in the house. The Producer chair. It’s usually close to dead center of the room, either in the middle or back. So I can see everything.

I love watching the transformation of the crowd from day 1 to day 4. They go from I’m too cool for school, pretty in pink, or scared 7th grader to full on going for it. I love watching students singing flat out to God.

And like most camps we always have the night where we ask students to stand and receive Christ. I’ll never get tired of watching 100’s of students each week go from death to life. It’s why I do what I do.

I wish I could remember all of the details of the night I accepted Christ. Unfortunately I can’t. I can remember though that I was at the Georgia Youth Evangelism Conference in Macon, GA. I was 14 and was with my youth group and Larry Brown prayed with me. I guess all of the other details are irrelevant.

I know there are many events, places, moments when people accept Christ. Mine was at a conference which is one reason why I do what I do. What’s your experience?
